International French 75 Day

International French 75 Day™

Officially celebrated each year on May 29th

Honoring the original. Celebrating the evolution.

Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for stopping by. International French 75 Day™ is an annual celebration of one of the world’s great classic cocktails, officially celebrated each year on May 29th. Created by Elaine Luxton, founder of Drink In Life, the celebration honors the French 75’s remarkable history while celebrating the people, places, and craftsmanship that continue to inspire it around the world. Throughout Drink In Life and on social media, you’ll often see me refer to it simply as French 75 Day™.

Why International French 75 Day™?

International French 75 Day™ began with something wonderfully simple: my favorite cocktail.

What started as an appreciation for the bright, refreshing combination of sparkling wine, gin, and lemon gradually became something much bigger. The more I learned about the French 75, the more fascinated I became by its history, the places that helped shape it, and the people who continue to keep its story alive more than a century later.

As a travel writer, wine expert, photographer, I’ve always believed that the best stories are about more than what’s in the glass. They’re about the people, the traditions, and the places that give those experiences meaning.

Beginning May 29, 2027, International French 75 Day™ will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the cocktail’s first published recipe.

My hope is that this annual celebration encourages more people to discover the French 75, mix one at home, visit a favorite cocktail lounge, explore the places connected to its story, and most of all, gather with family and friends to enjoy it together.

Whether you’re discovering your very first French 75 or you’ve been ordering one for years, I’m so glad you’re here.
